Under the deal, Russia is to supply at least 5 billion cubic metres of natural gas to Ukraine in the coming weeks, paid in advance by Ukraine. In exchange, Ukraine agreed to pay 3.1 billion US dollars to Russia by year end. A new EU-Russia-Ukraine meeting on this topic is scheduled for next week in Berlin.
